Beauty Prep List

1- 2 Weeks out from the big race you may want to have a deeply cleansing and light resurfacing facial including extractions to clear out, and lightly buff the skin leaving it a lovely glow and smooth, hydrated canvas for  a beautiful make up application.

3-7 days out from the big day brows will need maintenance, tinting, lash perming and tinting will enhance and lengthen the look of lashes.

3-4 Days before ensure all hair removal is done this allows the skin to calm before tanning

2-3 days before the big race, full body exfoliation to prep the skin for Spray tan be careful of the products you use on the skin and hair 2-3 days prior to tanning as products that leave a film on the skin may prevent the tan from taking or give patchy results.

1-2 Days before Manicures, pedicures and Spray Tans ensure you feel very Glam and race ready. Ensure the skin is thoroughly exfoliated and moisturised the day prior to tanning, but ensure the skin is completely free of product for Tan, this includes no deodorant! Ensure you wear loose fitted natural fibre clothing a breezy sundress is recommended. Rinse tan off after recommended time in warm water only do not use product on the body for 24 hours.

On Race Day

Ensure your skincare regime includes a waterproof UVA and UVB sunscreen.

Use a primer to prepare the skin for make up, this will increase the wear time and make the skin appear refined.

Remember with applying make up, a daytime makeup should be light and fresh (heavy eye makeup will not look too good after hours in the hot Qld Sun). Using a long wear lip stain ensures your lip colour stays on your lips not on your Champaign glass.

Always take some touch up make up to ensure you look fab all day long! A pair of fold up ballet flats are also a great investment for the races relieve aching feet if you are a little unsure of the comfort of your shoes.

As far as betting goes, I have a (loosing) history of choosing my horses based on their colour scheme, or how much I like the horses name, so probably won’t comment on that!!!

Final piece of advise, try to dink plenty of water… The hot sun and flowing Champaign can lead to dehydration very quickly, this = Hangover and possible regrettable behaviour. Try to leave race day with as much elegance and grace with which you arrived. After years of working at the races I have seen many racetrack beauties turn from gracious to Jersey shore before the race even starts! Water will be your bestie!

Happy Punting!

P.S Please cleanse of your make up when you get home!
